Hello! Well, here it is August. Target stores have had their "back to school" items out for a month already. I will be putting together my teaching schedule in the next couple of weeks. Lessons will start the THIRD week of school (September 17, 18 and 19). I will be giving lessons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. Please email me with your time preferences.
Something you should know is that I just accepted the position of Licensed School Nurse for the school district. My schedule will be busier this fall. That is why I've decided to start with lessons one week later than usual. I'll need the first two weeks to get things up and running at school first.
For now, here are several things for you to know about...
We're having a beautiful stretch of weather right now. Hope you're getting out and enjoying it. Looking forward to seeing you in September!

- Free Outdoor Concert - Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the LeDuc Estate in Hastings This concert will feature The New Pearl Button Players. The songs are ones that the LeDuc family enjoyed in their home in the post civil war era. I have heard this group perform the songs that will be featured for this concert and really enjoyed it. There is a violinist in the group along with keyboard, mandolin, guitar, and flute. Hope you can get to hear this unique concert! Here is a link to the website: http://50.87.151.19/~dakota/events-2/
- New website I have switched to Weebly as this site is more user friendly with easy access - no logging in or needing to make a password. Please take a look around the website when you get a chance.
- Whistle While You Work I participated in the Jazz Improvisation camp at McNally Smith College of Music this summer and learned a LOT! One unique sound clip that we listened to was this one of Ghana postal workers recorded while they were working: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=por5SopwHDc This sound clip was presented as part of a seminar on the origins of jazz music.
